sharing music files

my wife and i share the same ip address and we are having difficulties sharing mp3 music files. wifes on a lap top i,m on a desktop ,so if anyone can point us in the right direction , would be very much appreciated. sorry forgot to mention my wife is on xp home ,,,, i'm on xp pro. step by step guide please
s i am not computer literate. thanks in advance
 
You want to be able to send each other music files?

Why don't you buy a network cable and make a network, they you could have a shared folder between the two of you that you could both see and use.
 
setup a home network, right click the folder with all your music on it, go to properties, and there should be a sharing tab
