Shells for windows? help!

It's supposed to change/improve the overall windows look. But is it "completely" safe? this is a new comp so i don't wanna risk anything.... anyone have experience with shells? specifically SharpE?

Not SharpE but i have used DesktopX and the themes look really good. It was easy to do and had no problem uninstalling them.
