Shorting Out?

Ok so Im having an issue with my PC so hoping someone can help me nail it down. I believe the problem is in the earth somewhere or something causing a short in the power. The PC will be running perfectly then just for no reason turn off, it doesnt shut down or anything just turns off as if someone pulled the power cord. SOme of the lights will stay on and the case fans however the CPU Fan will not. If you try just turning the system back on the lights will come on but no CPU Fan and the system wont start. To get it to start I need to lay it on its side and fiddle with all the conections then it will work again however I can quite figure out what connection it is.

Is there any common areas that this might happen, somewhere I can focus my efforts?

My Build is as Follows,

Antec Dominator Case
CoolerMaster Thunder 700w PSU
Intel i5-4690k
Gigabyte Z97X-SOC Force Motherboard
12GB Corsair Dominator Ram
ASUS STRIX GTX970
Coolermaster Seidon CPU Water Cooler

How long as it been built? If it was a shorting issue then it would have started right after you built it. The computer shutting off but fans remaining on is quite weird. Could be a shorting issue still. Might want to tear the system down and rebuild it.

it has had issues since I first built it, the build is just over 12months old. I figured Id have to strip it right down but I was hoping to at least have some idea as to what the issue is first.

Well unfortunately, if its been having issues since you built it, I would definitely tear it all apart and rebuild it. Did you use the standoffs between motherboard and case?
