So I dug out my old Dual Core system to test my 9800 GX2 as it is having issues with system in my sig. The Dual Core system specs are: Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L mobo, Pentium Dual Core E5200, 2 gigs of Kingston DDR2 RAM, 80 gig IDE hd and an IDE DVD drive. Now my issue is when I power the system on the cpu fan spins without pushing the power on button on the front, which it has never done before. And neither the HD or DVD drive will power on until I pull disconnect the IDE cables. They are put in the correct way is there is only one possible way to insert them, I have checked and re-checked and all cables, RAM etc. are firmly seated. I even tried brand new IDE cables. The system has been sitting for a couple of months and was working just fine before it sat. I tried two different power supplies as well, both with the same result. I know that Gigabyte boards are notorious for dying after a couple of years. Any ideas? TIA.
