Should I buy this card?

GeForce 7800GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI-Expressx16:

If I was looking to run a game like "F.E.A.R." at medium settings at a comfortable FPS rate at 1280x1024 resolution (the max my monitor can display), would this be a good choice? I'm trying to stay in the "below $150" range for card, and I want to know if there is a better choice.

And another question, is it true that compatability for DirectX9 games on a DirectX10 card is low? Because I also don't know if I should save a couple months and buy a DirectX10 card, or just buy this card now (as I have only integrated graphics) and then buy the DirectX10 card when I need it and it has a (somewhat) lower price.

My 7600GT will run FEAR at 1024x768 on high without much problem, so I beleive the 7800GT should work as you want.

As for DirectX, any current DirectX 9 compatable card will work with DirectX 10. However, you will not have full support for all the new features and all offered with version 10. Same goes for 8.1 cards running 9.0.

It's a great car for the price, I was looking at that myself, but I decided to get the x1900GT for $155 instead.

But for $130, it's a great deal.
