i just got my computer and it came with 1gb (2x512mb) with my gateway...its pc-5300......should i sell it and get all the same company or doe sit matter? i want to upgrade to at least 3 gbs.

right now i have 2 512 of ram and was just gonna go with 2 1gb sticks in my other two slots.

I skimmed through that link of yours, but couldn't find what the OS was. For either Xp, or Vista, 2gb is more than enough. Actually, w/ vista i would run 2gb not 1. So like cohen said, 2gb should be great either way.
Me being a complete idiot would go with 3gb, but that's just because i ain't paying for it
