Should I just format?

So, usually when I upgrade my computer as massively as a new mobo and cpu, the pc isn't going to run my os on my harddrive so I have to reformat. Well, I swapped out a dual-core lga 775 with an amd quad (along with the board). To my surprise the os still boots. I've been running it this way for a while. But, I've noticed a few times when I'm doing some multi-tasking (like just today, I was installing something, surfing the web, and using visual studio) that one program or another would bog down (in this case, VS). You think it's cause the hardware switch? Thanks for any ideas.
 
blah. I figure it would. I really didn't want to though, as it involves all the program re-installing, and some (like WoW) take a couple hours to do
 
Yeah and life sucks....though if I decide to get an SSD with my tax refund, I'll way to re-format til then. That'll make up for the suck
 
I would also. Don't do a quick format. do a full format when the option comes. get er done and clean.
 
Surely you were expecting to have to reinstall everything anyway when you swapped over? It would of been the first thing I would of done

Also on a side note if you do decide to reformat, make sure that you revoke all your licences, something that I failed to do one

You do know a full format only checks for bad sectors on the drive, right? Plus there is no choice between the two with Vista and 7.
