Should I re-apply a thermal compound?

For some reason, when I got my new computer, after about a month the heatsink and fan came loose from the cpu. I guess the thermal compound in between must have come unattached or something.

My question is, should I get the old paste off the cpu and heatsink and apply a new coat? or just leave it as it is. I pushed it back in properly and it is no longer loose. The only thing is, Im not sure that its necessary, as the cpu sits at a temp of about 32-40 degrees celcius.(although for some reason it is currenty on 45, im not sure why.)

If I do re.do I I reckon I will use Arctic Silver.

Pleae give me your opinion on whether it is necessary.

Thanks

Pentium D's tend to be hot, you only should worry if it goes above 55 or so. However it might reach that while gaming.

Na ive checked before by having a hardware analysis program running on top while Played Quake 4 and Halo. Its all good. usually it will get to about 45 max. I dont know why its running so hot tonight though. All ive been doing is browsing on this forum. but then again my computer has been running all day
