Should I still get Norton Internet Security/AntiVirus if I have Avast Antivirus (with on-access scanner) and ZoneLabs Firewall. Also I am going to buy the full version of Spyware Doctor (tell me if I shouldn't)
 
there isnt much of a need to get norton. it wont be any better then your current set up. and about spyware doctor, ill let buzz help you there, h's the security expert

well im not sure about that, it probably depends on what computer you have, it didnt make that much of a difference on my comp, but it did make a difference on my old 1.1Ghz Celeron w/ 256mb ram.
 
You should never have 2 AV's running, it can cause a conflict and leave you less protected. Go with the advice here, and you should be ok.

And if you want to buy an anti spyware program, get Spysweeper.

My laptop has Avast and Norton but Avast can detect it and automatically knows what it should shut off. It isn't necasary to have though and I am going to uninstall it soon. (I just downloaded it to see if it would find anything Norton wouldn't).

I have MS Antispyware, AdAwareSE, SpybotSD, SpywareBlaster, HijackThis, and Syware doctor. I love Firefox and never use IE. I forgot about Spysweeper, I downloaded the trial but than I unistalled it because the subscription ran out. I'll get that over Spywaredoctor.

yeah its nnot too good to have somany antivirus and anti spyware.. most of them nowadays come with real time scanning.. and just imaging alll of them trying to scan your system..

if you REALLY really need to.. the best advice would probably to have one of them running only.. like having one default.. and the others just to scan when you feel the need to if you feel your default one didn't pick it up..
 
Microsoft and Avast are the only ones the run all the time.

I downloaded ZoneAlarms Firewall but I also have Avast. My computer restarts randomly when I am online. I think it may be because of the Avast On-access scanner. WOuld you recommend that I get rid of ZoneAlarms (which I can't see doing) or just turn off Avast On0access scanner. Thats what I will do but are there any other free good antvirus programs that won't interupt the firewall? Are there any free AntiVirus programs that are better than Avast to begin with?
