i have the opportunity to trade the pc in my sig for a brand new hp. the hp is a m9077c. It has the following specs
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600.
3GB PC5300 Ram (2x1gb 2x512mb config)
400 GB HDD
DVD Lightscribe burner
NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT
Vista home premium :(
Huge 24" screen

I really like my computer but i think the quad core and the screen are worth the trade. What do you guys think?

is that the specs of the current computer or the one you are trading it in for? what is the other comps specs? have you considered backing up your current files?

my current specs are in my sig. backing up my data is not a problem and is really not what i am asking this question for. i just wanted to see peoples opinions of my current pc vs the one in the OP.

Well if you're tired of gaming then trade. Otherwise don't, the 8500gt would be very disappointing, plus you'll have basically no room to upgrade due to the crappy powersupply.

sorry im an idiot, didnt see your sig.... i wouldnt trade, your current system seems leet enough, and can game better than the 8500.... and if you dont game, then no reason to trade anyway, your system will last for years to come

Ya but it's got way better specs my votes for the trade. My HP's still runnin after 5 years. In fact I just sold because I'm funding my new comp and buddy was thrilled.

Actually, i highly reccommend the trade, cuz if you're not gaming, you'll need the DX10 card in the future, and besides, quad core...24" monitor...? I would trade for that. But the thing is, a computer you built yourself is so much more meaningful than...well, an HP.

hmm, on a second note, if i was given personal decision, i wouldn't trade...but i'd take the monitor xP

I wouldn't, the motherboard would be enough to turn me away.... it would cost too much to make it worthy. Also it will have locked bios, and do you know the stepping of the q6600?

Nah, I'd keep your current rig, if you don't game then the dual core and 2GB of XMS2 RAM is more than enough, those things move! ;)

Not trading. The only pros of the HP machine is it have a 24" monitor. But taking account of its upgrade ability, locking Bios, etc. I will not trade.

im trading it i guess. the screen is a huge plus for me and it has hdmi out which i really need and was about to drop 400 bucks on. and for me HP means free keyboards and mice for the duration of the warranty :) :) :) im going to be putting one HDD from my current build and putting it in the hp.

Keep yours, your video card is A LOT better. Besides, the Q6600 only costs about $80 more then the E6600.
