Should I upgrade my card to play these games?

I have a 8500gt 512mb that I got for my new system, I don't plan on playing alot of games but I do want to try crysis when it comes out and play bioshock when I finish building my system. I will have a 22" monitor by then. I know the card isn't very great, but will it work? if not can somone recomend one? I don't want to go out and spend $300 on a video card..

The very least I would recommend to play those games is a 7600gt. I played the close to retail crysis demo and bioshock on one, and I could play Bioshock maxed, and crysis on medium settings. No DX10, but it's not powerful enough for it, as would any comparably card be.

The 8800gt(s) is great, but expensive and may create a bottleneck if his system isn't up to it. Without knowing any specs I could also recommend either the 8600gts or a 7900gs. They are alittle more expensive but much better overall.

This 7900gs is only $120, $99 after MIR. Once again, since it's not a 8xxx series card, it's not DX10, but it's a good deal nonetheless.

The 8800gt will fit in perfectly then, providing your PSU is up to task. But you say you don't game much? It's a difficult decision then. You can spend quite abit, and play the games you do want nicely, or spend less, with the obvious performance/quality losses.

Most benchmarks I've seen put the GT ahead of the GTS by a healthy margin. If I go by that I'd have to say the 2900xt, though they're still not evenly matched.
