should i upgrade to win 8

hay guys my MOBO crashed and has cleared the hard drive and corrupt it.
I need to get an OS back onto that SSD. Should i wait till win 8 is released and get that or do you think i should just reinstall win 7.
The only thing i need to buy the new OS??
Any help is appreciated :)

yes its for my desktop, the hard drive corrupted and when reformated the os was wiped.
for some reason the os serial code says its invalid midway through install where you have to enter the product key to continue.
So i need to buy a new os
 
I'd download the Release Candidate of Windows 8 today and install it just to see how you like Windows 8. If you like it, great, buy it later. If not, go back to 7.
 
Why would you go to Windows 8?
What Windows 7 doesn't have and that Windows 8 does have?Except being newer than Windows 7...
 
I like how fast it boots and shuts down, but since I don't have windows 7. I am using the RP 8400 build. I would like to get the retail version of windows 7 pro. That way if I ever crap out a motherboard I won't have to worry. But on the other hand Getting the windows 8 pro OEM is cheaper and I have never crapped out a motherboard in the 20+ yrs that I have been in computers.
