I have been using windows 7 home for many years and there is really no practical reason to upgrade to windows 8 or 10 but I am getting bored with the whole thing. I 'd like to know if I should upgrade my hardware as well for windows 8 or 10? If I do not upgrade my hardware, would the overall performance suffer? or would the windows 8 or 10 still work as nice as it should be.

current config
intel i5 2400; 2x4GB Ram; Antec PSU 400W; 1T 3.5 HDD; No SDD and graphic card.

It's just an OS. Not really worth the cost for the only reason of being 'bored'..

Try a Linux LiveCD or something if you're so perpetually bored.

Yeah if you're bored, mess with Linux.

But, yes I do think the change to Windows 10 will be a major upgrade. IMO, not worth $100, but there have been rumors that it will be a cheap upgrade to people using Windows 7 or Windows 8.

Most likely will be free for Windows 8 users and windows 7 users will need to pay.

I want to add that Linux is not same as Win but it has its merits, for example you can surf, stream videos without virus protection, and not being worried about system to be infected with virus malware, Ubuntu 14.04 and Mint17.1 are great OPS
