should i upgrade?

currently i have an ATI 9600XT 256MB card, and i can play games fairly well, halo @ max but in some maps its only around 20fps, and hl2 around medium-high settings. I was wondering if i wouls see a fairly large improvement with the 6800. And if it would be worth upgrading to the 6800 for $164.

Yes that would be a good improvement, but i personally would go with something better then a 6800......if memory serves me correct it isn't much/isn't better then a 6600GT

Well, with Halo you wouldn't have the framerate problem, and you'd be able to play Half-Life 2 at max settings, but if you're going to upgrade I'd suggest getting a real nice card, such as the 6800GT, which will give you great performance results for at least another year, instead of you finding yourself disappointed in the 6800 when games like Quake 4 come out.

He has an AGP slot, as far as I know those are only available in PCI-e.

in that case, there is a nice X850XTPE for AGP, maybe a bit over budget, but still, look into X800/850 or 6800GT 's

if have agp slot get 512mb 6800 ultra , the best agp graphic card as i know

the cards that your saying are in the $300+ range, i picked this cause its fairly cheap, and looks pretty good. And one the the reviews said that a guy upgrade to this from a 6600gt and saw an improvement.

well.. the ultra is way overpriced.
but,. i would look for a 6800GT. just take some time and look for a really nice deal

Yeah, the Ultra is just an overclocked GT and not worth the extra price.
