ok, i just got done building my first machine (see sig), but now i'm wondering if I should push it a little more. my thought: i have 2 gigs of ram now, i heard that vista will require 1 and recomend 2 - which really means, you should have 4. my mobo has 4 gig remapping (or something like that - not sure, never used it) i'm also only running 1 video card.

if i planned on running 4 gigs of ram and sli, should i buy the mem and video card now before they change something on the models of the mem and card or do you think that i should be ok for a year or so?

im not a huge gammer, but im getting more into it now that i've got a machine that can handle it.

You're fine right now. Wait until Vista comes out, because right now some programs actually run slower with 4 GB of ram that 2GB

Vista only requires 512MB of RAM

And no program will run slower with 4GB of ram than with 2GB

The models cannot be changed, PCI-E isn't going to disappear anytime soon....

im not sure if you caught what i ment.

ie.
i have 2 gigs of corsair xms - is there a possibility that when i want to run 4 gigs, i won't be able to find xms but only (for example) xms-g?

-or-

when i want to install another gefore 6800 i won't be able to find one?

You are not going to not be able to fine one. They will still be around, just possible a little more expensive. And 2GB of RAM is not going to be outdated in a year, heck, I am still using 128MB
