Should I use a software to defrag my disk

I just have a simple question to ask you guys. Should I use Windows to defrag my disk or should I install a 3rd party software to defrag my HDD. I'm wondering which one does the job better.

I cannot really say which of the free defraggers are the best. I have used a couple but I have not noticed any difference between third party programs and the Windows defragger. Others will disagree but how they can tell is beyond me.

Windows Defrag is fine. Or you can download a third party program such as disk defraggler.

Auslogic Defrag is by far faster and better than windows version ime. Just use custom installation to prevent any other bloatware from installing with it.

This^ When I ran platter HDDs I used that program and it was by far the fastest. Don't ask why, but it was.

Never defarg an SSD though.

Yeah, I noticed that the other day when I ran a scan on a system. Forgot to check to see what software was installed though.

I haven't used Auslogics defragger since circa '08. So I have no idea what they have in there now for ADs. Never had ADs when I used it.

I use JKDefrag at work. Seems to be decently quick and has a good visual representation of what it's doing. Straightforward too since it just goes as soon as you run the exe.
