Should I wait?

Hi all, as some of you may already know, I'm planning to build a PC for this year. I have been planning on buying peripheral items first, (case, monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse...etc) and then buy all of the hardware when the money is available and the prices are cheap, which I was planning to be about November, as cyber monday and black friday sales make everything convenient to buy. My build consists of a GTX 670, a Gigabyte Z77 board, a Intel Core i7-3770K and some 1866Mhz DDR3 RAM. I just recently heard wind of Intel's new line of Brickland CPU's with support for DDR4 RAM, and I started wondering about the timing of my build and what I have planned for it.

My question to you forumers, is, should I scratch my build and maybe wait longer than November to build and see if the Brickland and DDR4 takes off well and then outfit my build around those parts, or should I just not worry about them and stick with whats established. My concern would be is that I just perfected my build completely and figured out exactly what I want, and changing everything about it would take another 3 months just to get it right. I'd have to change the motherboard, the CPU, the RAM and possible other parts if I based the build around the newest technology. So what do you guys think? Obviously the parts I want will probably be driven down in price even more by the release of new, better parts, but I'm just wondering what your guy's opinions are on it. Let me know, the advice is appreciated.

You should just buy whatever is available when you've got the money. However, that being said, if once you've got the money the new stuff is just round the corner (ie, a week or two away), then you may as well wait.

My point is though, in that respect, that even though the new stuff will be coming, and I have the money to buy what I had planned on, the new stuff will most certainly be more expensive than what I had planned on purchasing. Just my concern.

Just get what you can afford at the time then. What you've got in mind is a very powerful setup and will last you a long while. I wouldn't worry too much about the new stuff if when you have the money to buy what you have in mind there's still months until the new stuff comes.

I doubt there will be a big leap anyway.

No problem!

But yeah, just save up and wait - see what's available when you've got the money. :good:

No matter what, something always bigger and better is just around the corner in this industry. Bulldozer's came out a week or so after I got my Phenom II and I replaced my 5770 with a 7850 in about a year. You'll never be able to truly keep up. However what you've got is plenty powerful and should last you at least 2 years of high end gaming and probably more.
