Can somebody please help me with this

i have dual boot, with windows 98
and windows xp professional

For both the operating systems, i dont get the shutdown message when the computer actually shut downs
the message "IT IS NOW SAFE TO TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER" is not displayed
Also THE PROCESSING led OF THE CPU REMAINS ON

i came across this win98seshutdownfix.exe, which fixex shutdown error in windows 98se, but even that didnt work. I didnt know whether such .exe file existed for xp or not.

i tried resintalling the Operating System again, but that did not work as well.

IS it something in bios setting or something to do with power settings?

please help me here to solve my problem
thank you!

yea, this all has to do with your bios, whether or not the computer will automatically shut off, or if you get the message. (the message usually shows up on older systems)

However, what your discribing with the LED, sounds like your computer is going into sleep or hibernation, which would be a power setting.

the thing is that, in my bios power settings i dont have the option for "Advanced power management"
