Hello people :good: I'm new to this site and also very new to computing but after a while seaching through diferent compuer forums, I have come to the decision of joining you guys on here to hopefully point me in the right direction for a new small form computer...right then, my story...I am wanting a small form computer to be put into my bedroom. However, I am very limited to space, 330mm max depth for the case. Height and with aren't really an issue as such. I will be wanting as high spec as possible for about £1250 + monitor so about £1450 in total. I must have a soundcard with optical output (connecting to my amp) and the GPU must be able to output full HD for bluray. Ok, so I have come up with this system, but can you give me a heads up if any of the products aren't much cop...here goes ;)

Shuttle SX58H7

6gb (3x2gb) DDR3 memory (unsure what model of memory though...)

896MB Gainward GTX 260 GPU OR 1GB Gigabyte HD4870 (any reccomendations:confused:)

Intel i7 920

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Soundcard

LG Blu-ray reader/writer

2 of 1TB Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3 7200rpm, 32MB Cache

Monitor - SAMSUNG T220HD (need the HDMI for my Xbox 360)

T.V. tuner/recorder - Unsure but must be internal and not usb if possible??

Any comments welcome

Thanks
Rob

Why are you getting a shuttle? I'd get a Silverstone Lascala LC13 and buy your own i7 and dr3 memory.

I'd go with the 4870

Do you need an OS?

thankyou for all the replies but however, all of those cases are too large...my maximum depth is 330mm (13")...hency why I want a shuttle as it is the only case that is small enough that I can get the i7 chip into ;)

Don't get Shuttle!
According to spec, that mobo don't have PCI slot/ PCI-E slot. you can't install sound card/ TV tunner.
Are you going to play game with this PC? If not, get ati 4670 instead.

Are you OK with depth of 375mm??

Mobo - Asus Rampage II Gene Intel X58

This motherboard have Onboard SupremeFX X-Fi with Optical out, so don't need additional soundcard

If you buying soundcard/ TV turner, make sure you get the correct interface. When you install graphic card, there would be chance to block one of the slot.
And for sound card for music, I prefer Asus than creative.

Yes, as far as you choose a micro ATX motherboard.
And make sure you get modular PSU, you don't want many unuse cable hanging in the case which block air flow.

Do you need OS?
If yes, wait another two weeks until Windows 7 release.

So the asus rampage x58 board that you suggested would fit in the case I have found? What is the difference between modular and normal psus? Also why would I want to have 2 GPUS and up to 24gb of memory???

Yeah, I wont be buying for another month or 2 anyway..so windows 7 will be out by then ;)

Modular PSU - you can take out cable if you don't need.

BTW, have you consider core i7 860 + P55 mobo?
i7 860 slightly outperform i7 920. But P55 mobo is alot cheaper.

To be honest, I like the look of the asus board...I would prefer to have a better board as the board is the 'hub' for all the components IMO. I have heard a lot of good praise for the 920 aswel....performance wise, I doubt i'd notice a difference between the 920 and 860  Would a 550 psu be suitable or should I go for something more like a 750 or higher like http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/850W-NorthQ-Black-Magic-Flex-Modular-PSU-80plus-Eff-135mm-Silent-Fan-Crossfire-X-Quad-SLi or is this just overkill?

I suggest you go for 860 because it seems to me you haven't plan to run dual video card. Most gamer prefer 920+X58 coz X58 support better SLi/ CF. Since you are running single video card. i7 860/ i7 920 would not show the difference, but the motherboard would be a lot cheaper.

I haven't heard of that brand of PSU...
If you only plan to install one Video card. 550W would handle everything.

would the optical out on the gigabyte 860 board be as good as the asus board though? What power supply would fit though as all the ones I have just looked at say ATX size and not micro atx  Sorry to keep asking questions....
