well i been a member with ebay now for about 8 years, an to be fair its just going from bad to worse

fees are endless as you know,
advertise, selling, reserve, buy it now,
and the time waster are all over the place, always bad ppl bidding on stuff, never paying, left me bad feedback years ago fo no genuine reason, and endless amounts of people say they never got the item so i had to result in sending recorded delivery that means higher P&P chargers that people rather avoid!!

sorry to rant but i got a page full of sold items and out of 50 items i got about 31 payments, ebayer dont realise that yea we can claim or selling cost back but we still blooming charger to list it!

so i am still using ebay but added lots of restrictions / rules. also selling on gumtree

any other sites out there that i can advertise my stuff as im clearing out my garage and house slowly and got enless stuff thats got small value, EG new hp ink cartidges (genuine) and they work £15 each easy... an i got about 12 here lol plus lots of bits an bobs

any advice before i go crazy and drive around the UK and knock every time wasters front door lol

sorry to rank

Nothing wrong with a good eBay rant thread! I hate them too. I've sold on eBay on and off for about 6-7 years now. Used to do it as my main income before everything you mentioned above drove me away, now I just use it occasionally for the things you can't sell anywhere else.

Amazon is a lot more restrictive in what you can sell, however I find it to be a much better company to work with.

same as me, i just list my main items that usualy sell for about the price i am after, but other things just done sell.

previous job i was a grounds worker, so i got a 6 feet long ground bar, cost me £140 i think and put it on ebay 1 bid of 99p, i ended it as it only had 2 watchers, an same with lots of other items

ebay needs to look at its site and realise they lossing lots of custome, the fees are just crazy,
i hate ebay - im happy now :)

So, you're moaning about Ebay, but willingly admit to pulling an item cos it wasnt reaching the value you thought it should have? Not good Ebaying really is it and not surprised you get bad feedback pulling stunts like that.

If you wanted it to sell for more, why not start it at a more realistic price. Oh no, that would mean you forking out more in sellers fees.

Ebay is a business, not many people/organisations will do something for nothing these days. Get used to it, it'll only get worse.

i respect what you saying, and if i pull a item of auction feedback can not be left

not just me i only got 1 bad feed back i think, but you see a lot of people getting bad feedback for no genuine reason, again i need ebay to declutter i suppose.

but its fees are high, customer service stinks, and just loads of time waster there.

I used to sell on ebay and didn't really have a problem with it. Now that Paypal started charging like %5 on the already charged %8 ebay fee, I said eff that not selling anymore.

I mean seriously, how does the same company charge twice on a set amount of money. Rediculous.

Besides, it also frustrates me when someone sells something, doesn't write the description to the fullest and then doesn't respond to my message asking about a detail. Its like wtf are you even selling the item.

I actually had sort of the opposite problem. I used to sell mostly computer equipment and electronics, and I would always provide as much information as possible including full spec sheets and whatever little details I could think of that might be relevant. I would still get people messaging me asking questions that were clearly answered in the listing, but the worst feeling would be when an auction would end and afterwards the winner would send a message asking something about the item (which they should have known or asked BEFORE the auction ended).

The main reason I quit eBay was that I was tired with dealing with customers who would buy something without knowing if it was exactly what they needed. It seemed like every week someone would buy a phone that wasn't for their carrier or a part that wouldn't work with their computer. Since eBay sides with the buyer in nearly any dispute, it would always be me taking the loss.
