*Sigh* Sisters...

Well, in the midst of being stupid and fooling around with her friends, she managed to spill a whole 1/4 of a bottle of nail polish remover all over her desk. The keyboard has stopped working and I've confirmed it's the keyboard because I have an old PS/2 one lying around and tested it. I'm drying it off right now, I've taken it apart, should I wipe the inside down? I'm not sure if I should use liquid (water) to try to flush some of that revolting stuff off. I'm also buying a new one (probably) for her for Christmas, but not sure if I should. I'll use it to replace the money I was going to spend on a "real gift" for her. Do you guys think I should just let it dry off? I need to beat the Newegg "delivery before Christmas" thing.

I would say with it being nail polish remover, the keyboard is toast. Not knowing what that chemical will do to the connections.

Yeah, that's what I thought, well, looks like I'll have to go with some sort of rush order from Newegg... *Thinks about the shipping cost and sighs*

***EDIT***
Wooow, it looks like the shipping itself (2nd day) is costing more than the actual price.

Since nail polish remover is usually just acetone, the keyboard may work fine after it has dried off. You would be better off flushing it with more acetone then water. Acetone can be used cleaning electrical contacts. Water can corrode.

Just let the keyboard dry and see if it works. The nail polish remover will evaporate rather quickly. Now, if by some chance the liquid allowed a critical short between the wrong contacts, that could have killed the keyboard.

Will do. I'll just wait until later tonight before placing the order, thanks.
