Silent Fans

I'm looking for some silent fans that I will be putting in a build some time soon. I heard the Slipstreams are good but when I went to go look online, people said they were pretty loud.:( Does anyone know of good+silent fans? These will be going on a radiator so they will have to be 120mm. Thanks.

http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/scge120mmsic2.html the scythe gentle typhoons are probably some of the best fans i've used, but it also depends on the radiator, is it like a thermochill/feser/sr1, or something like the swiftech/xspc/black ice rads? right now, i have the 1450 rpm model on my heatsink, and from the 1 foot away i am from my heat sink(i have no case mind you...) it's barely audible

THose are a tad expensive imo...

R4 = Quiet, long life, pretty cheap
Typhoon = Quiet? How 'bout silent, great life, tad expensive

If you have the money, go Typhoon, otherwise R4.

Its going to be a Swiftech radiator. Will that make a difference or will I be fine with those?

i would stick with the 1850 rpm model, then, it's up to you if you want silence, or temps somewhere around 3-5*C better, i've only noticed a 5*C increase on load from my sanyo denki(39db) to the gentle typhoon(20db) on my true, which should have a similar fin density to that of my true. if you're wondering about temps, my true has been lapped to 2500 grit, i'm using mx-2 as a thermal paste, my i7 920 is at 3.8ghz([email protected]) and my load temps are 50*C max

Those swiftechs arent the best radiators in the world for low air flow low static pressure fans, those fans pump out at max something like 53cfm, and although scythe does not rate static pressure of their products im assuming its pretty horrible due to low speed, high number of fins, and thin profile(25mm).

The medium speed ultra kaze arent crazy loud if you put them on a fan controller, but not what i would call silent. Another decent choice to look at is the scythe slipstream highspeed, its a tad loud but you can easily put it on a fan controller.
