All PSU's I have looked at say *Silent Fan* although ALL of them say that, any ideas what PSU I should actually go for? A decent wattage but a cheapish psu too :P

Cheers

Well if you want a very quiet PSU I'd recommend some of the XFX PSUs as they have a feature which turns the fan off when it isn't required to run. The fan will only run when the PSU is under load with some of their power supplies, and the fan will switch itself off when the PSU is not under stress and is not going to overheat. However, the XFX PSUs tend to be quite expensive and generally quite high wattage as they are enthusiast-grade products. You're talking over £60 and around 600+ watts, which may be overkill for what you need.

Generally speaking, most branded PSUs are pretty quiet anyway. It's usually the cheap/generic PSUs that are noisy. Usually the noise in your system is actually more your CPU cooler or the fan(s) on your graphics card(s) anyway, so I'd look into upgrading those first before you look at a new PSU.

Well im looking to use on-board graphics for the time being so far I have decided vengeance ram and z77 extreme 4 mobo and haf 912 plus case I just bought....so just working my way through ;) cheers for the replies guys

Are you planning to upgrade to a GPU in the future? If so, what do you have in mind? That's going to depend on what PSU I recommend you, and how much do you want to spend?

I have no idea what GPU I am gunna get can be from GTX or HD lol, no lcue so would welcome recommendations to that too :)

Well are you looking to play games on this system? If so, you want to spend as much possible. Do you have a budget for the graphics card? Something like this would be a good gaming card http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/...aphicscards/atihd6800series/11180-00-20r.html not sure if it's over budget or not as you haven't yet given us a budget.

I'm probably going to recommend you the Corsair CX500 PSU right now. Unless you're going to get something like a Radeon 6870 or GTX 560 or faster, then it will probably reamin my recommendation. http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/powersupplies/cmpsu-500cxv2uk.html
