Hey guy, so I was using a wireless connection for a good while up until I left got a year. When I came back the internet on my computer ( and only my computer, our other computer s work just fine) was messed up. Not a big deal, I wanted to switch over to a wired network . So I got my new router for this computer only (netgear R6250) tried plugging it in before I realized I didn't have a modem.ugh so here I am consulting the experts because I don't want to make another silly mistake. I guess I need a NIC right? That's all I need then I'm should be all ready to go? A NIC a couple Ethernet cables and a router and that should be setup right? Thanks guys for the help!

Whoa. Okay, did the ISP give you a modem? That's not a router they are different. What is the make and model of your computer? The netgear R6250 is a router.
