Sim City 4 Help

I bought Sim City 4 the other day.
I was kind of a 2000 and 3000 junkie so I thought it would be cool.
I installed it and it ran fine for about a week.
In order for it to run you have to have Disc 2 (Playdisc) in the CD rom.
The last couple of days it will not run. At first the start screen came up and the computer did nothing. Now it says please insert Playdisc when it is already in! I tried re-installing but it made no difference. I also tried intalling the No-Disc Crack which some forums online suggested. No Luck!
Please any suggestion would be much appreciated.
I have a NVIDEA GeForce 9400 GT video card and 2GB of ram and am running
XP Home SP2 for OS.

All other cds work. I had to use it to re-install. I tried going to "Run" and running e:/autoplay.exe from disc 2 manually. Still nothing
 
Sounds wierd... impractical... HIT YOUR OD...

My computer did the same thing with TACHYON: THE FRINGE (best game ever) and I hit the OD in frustration and it gave me the screen I wanted.
 
I've always tried going to the Computer screen, and right clicking on the drive letter to get things started if I had a disc that isn't read. This happens to me with the Sims 2 disc now and again. However, for me I just need to manually open the auto run. But you said that that doesn't work for you. I don't understand why only the Simcity disc is not being read.

my friend gave me the job of making that game run on his new computer. for the life of me, i can't get the damned thing to run... have you installed and played that recently? doing the game updates does nothing, screen goes blank and won't launch. he's running Windows 7.

he's been preaching to me about how it was the best game ever... i'd never even heard of it
 
It is a pretty decent game.
I tried an old cd rom I had kicking around (I mean OLD) and it worked.
I played for an hour.. shut it down. Now it wont load.
AGAIN..
