simple ad hoc games?

I want to play games with some friends over an ad hoc network to waste time in class. What are some simple games which do not require a mouse and can run on just about any system?

V8 Supercars Australia (Also known as TOCA Race Driver series) You don't need a mouse, the menu's use arrow keys. they are old, but still fun. and can run and any modern system, probably even netbooks, without too much hassle or slowdowns.

Yeah, I'm talking Tetris, Battleship etc. anything like that, as long as it has offline networking.

battleship would be a good one. I'm pretty sure most games that can go online have a LAN mode.
