Hi,

I am building up a little home network but it always fail to work.

I ve got both IP adresses set on both computers... But either computer does not recognize the connection... It even show notification that notwork cable is unplugged when it is plugged in...

I ve no idea what to do... I thought there is a problem with drivers but they are installed and hopefuly up-to-date...

Please help me

You are using a crossover cable to connect the two PC's correct? A traditional ethernet cable will not work.

No, you won't be able to see other like that. You need a special type of cable. Their both RJ45, but the Crossover cable acts like a Router... Otherwise, just buy a switch or router... lots easier.

aha that might be my problem... I dont really recognize the cross cable from the other one...

Thx for help anyways

A crossover cable will looks like this:

As Gordon has said this might be his problem, and Omega then showed a picture of a working cross over cable, I thought networkmagic would be useful, as it'll take care of the software/config setup now that the physical networking issue has been resolved.

Was that to Gordon, or didn't you like my gigabit idea?
