Sims 2 Graphics Issues

The game installed correctly, but that's about it. When I load up the game it freezes and the my whole computer crashes and I have to shut down the system via the power button.

System Parts:
E8400
EP35-DS3L
Radeon 3870x2
600w PSU
64-bit Vista Ultimate

I also used a DVI-VGA adapter to plug my monitor into my graphics card. I also installed the new drivers but no luck.

Maybe your comp is just too much for the game to handle it
