Hi,

For some reason this software i wanted to try out called SiSoftware Sandra Lite wont start.

I click on its icon and the splash screen appears and thats it.

The whole computer becomes unresponsive and i have to restart it.

Ive re-instaled it 2 times but still the same problem:o

Anyone have ideas whats up with this?

Thanks

SiSoftware is rather old and may see problems with XP at times unless you find an updated version. You may have also had either a bad download or need to run the system file checker. Sometimes one little system can cause a few problems when going to install something. Type "sfc /scannow" at the Run prompt and press the enter key. Have the XP install disk available. You may get prompted for that.

Hi,

I will download it again and see what happens.

If not do what you said here...

Type "sfc /scannow" at the Run prompt and press the enter key. Have the XP install disk available. You may get prompted for that

Lately when trying to burn a dvd with a newly installed BurnOn that worked great with some cd-r burns it suddenly saw system lockups. Reinstalled it and it still saw system locks! Roxio's Easy Media Creator was also having problems until I noticed Windows was the problem. "sfc /scannow" was busy for a lengthy time when that was finally run. It literally saved the day there.

The first run with BurnOn after saw the latest downloaded beta of Vista running. When the 14 days or so days runs out a burn of ReactOS will then see that free OS similar to XP go on for a multiboot with XP and Linux. Running one or more registry tools can cleanup a few things along with reducing the amount of things loading along with Windows. You could be seeing a conflict with another program if you didn't have a bad install.

Here's a freebie that runs easy for cleaning the registry. RegCleaner http://www.majorgeeks.com/RegCleaner_d460.html Once you have it on simply go up to "tools" on the explorer and choose registry cleanup the second item on the drop down list. Another menu opens on the right where you simply drop down to the "do them all" option there.

Microsoft came out with their own registry cleaner called RegClean found at http://www.download.com/RegClean/3000-2094_4-881470.html?tag=pdp_prod For a different download site for SiSoftware's Sandra Lite you could a copy from this link to see if the one you used has a problem. http://www.download.com/3001-2086_4-10451861.html?idl=n
