site saving program?

sorry for all the threads about trying to find software, i'm just not very good at knowing what to search for and where.
here's the thing, i have a website. right now it has nothing on it. but i'm working on fixing it up. and i want to put all my family pics on there and everything. the last time i did this, when my computer crashed, i lost everything and had to go to the site and save each picture individually.
is there any programs that would automatically download the pictures from a specific site?
i had heard about 1 or 2 of them, but they deal with porn, and that's not what i'm looking for.
i don't need something to download just porn, i need something that has a little more versatility.
preciate it

there are webiste leechers that you type a website address in and itll download all movies or images from the site. i believe one of them is called offline explorer

More Pics is a program that can get you all the photos from a webite you specify, try searching for it in Google.

HTTrack is a program that will copy all images, and pages to your computer and it changes all the links to be relative (so they point to the copy on your harddrive)

kewl
thanks ya'll

how do ya'll find out all this stuff?

like i said, i had heard of a couple of them. but they specify in porn from what i understand. dunno if they could download anything else or not, but with porn being in the program name, i don't think my wife wouold believe me that it was for normal site(s)

amazing i didn't even know i wanted it untill i found about it, know i can think of a million uses, besides but not excluding porn

how do ya'll find out all this stuff?
for some things it's a simple google search, but for a lot of utilities, I have used them before and liked how well they worked so they are easy to reccommend

Well, play a little bit with Google and you will find amazing things. The internet is full of websites, programs and information. You won't be able to find what you need without search engines, and google is the master of all search engines till now ;)

i have to agree to an extent.
depends on what you're searching for.
now one site i found that's great for searching for things, specifically wallpapers, is altavista
it has a seperate option when searching for images to search for specific size wallpapers, or just search all wallpapers...it's pretty kewl

and yeah, i did a lil searching on google at work and found a few sites that might have some decent programs. haven;'t been able to check them out yet as i have been at work, but i'm working on that now. i'll let ya'll know how that turns out too

also found some decent looking programs for the wallpaper changer.
i was searching for some that would be free. tried out one or two that i didn't care for, but i found a few other possibilities that might be nice
i'll let yta'll know when i get the time to download and test them

stupid 56k takes forever to download anything!

Also while on a web page if you click on "File" then "Save As" then choose location it saves that web page along with pictures :). You can then quickly move those pictures to another directory and delete the rest. This works great if there are many pictures on a web page and you don't want to take forever saving each one at a time.

Now if it's your website You should be able to download them all to your machine via FTP using whatever software you create your site with. Assuming that you use any specific software rather then online site builders and that your web space allows the use of FTP.

actually, i just use msn groups.
haven't gotten advanced enough to work on the whole building my own type thing

but what you said about saving the page and everything. would that save the pictures even if they are as thumbnails.
like, would it save the bigger pictures as well?

It only saved the thumbnails when I tried...

well... if u have got the pictures out once, then u can get em back the same way.
I dont know wich program you used, but if it is a ftp program u can just login on you account and instead of uploading you can download the pictures from the folder you have placed it when u made your site.
If u have used frontpage you can connect to the site the same way that you have done it before and simply copy all the images the same way as in ftp.

aight, check it out, i downloaded that httrack. but i can't quit figure it out all the way
what i'm looking to use it for right at the moment, since i'm too lazy to even get my pictures on my site first off, let alone get them back off.
but, there is a website that a friend at work showed me that has all kinds of wallappers. and for the most part, i like almost all of them that i have seen so far
and i want to save all the wallpapers, but i still have dial-up and it takes forever to go to each link and right-click and save each wallpaper individually
the site is http://babene.ru
in case anyone is interested
plus, it may give you more of an idea what i might be able to use

they have several different categories such as cars, 3d graphics and stuff like that
is there a way to just type in the web address babene.ru and have it go to all those subcategories and download all those wallpapers automatically?

one more thing, is there anyway to put like a size limit on the pics it'll download. that way it wouldn't download all the little thumbnails and banners and stuff?
either with httrack or any other program?
