just like socket #'s for cpus are there diff sizes for mobos to there cases or did the computer indusrty just make it easy on us and make a universal size???

If i understood your question right...yes
There are different formats, but most cases support the most common ones. dont know all of them but its like ATX etc. Look it up...

I think the most common ones out are ATX and micro/mini ATX.
