Skype process cannot be killed

I have a huge problem with skype on my pc, whenever I start my pc and try to open skype it opens but when I try to log in it says that I am already signed in on this pc. When I open the task manager there is two skype processes running and one of them cannot be killed. Like I said this happens whenever I start my pc so I'm guessing the only way to fix it is by formatting the whole pc. I looked at other forums and it seems like this problem is quite common on windows 8 but no one had a solution. I tried re-installing skype but that doesn't help. Can anyone help me?

I would say go into safe mode, uninstall skype; then go through your hard drives directory and locate anything that has to do with skype and delete it. Reboot, and go to skype homepage and download it from there. Don't download skype from anywhere else but the skype website.

You might be able to go into MSconfig and go to startup and uncheck the skype process form starting at startup.

locate anything that has to do with skype and delete it- What exactly do you mean by that part, other than deleting skype and some temp files what is there that I can delete?

Haha *going crazy*, guess what, I can't delete the skype temp files because they are already in use by this darn skype process that I cannot kill, what now?

Are you running skype in desktop mode or the UI mode or both. I run mine in Desktop mode only and have one skype process opened.
In desktop mode, Quit skype, then close it. And then unpin it from task bar.

Is the logo on the task bar? If it is do a right click on the "S" and sign out, quit skype and unpin it from task bar, then maybe it will UN-install.

I already did that 20 times, if it was that simple I would have figured it out by myself, thanks for responding though. And by the way, my problem is that I can't sign in so how am I supposed to sign out?

I used this program, the mysterious process disappeared but for some reason skype still says that I am already signed in on this pc and won't let me log in. Help?

I re-started my pc a bunch of times and now it works again... weird. Thanks for help! (I think revo did the job, it just needed a restart)

For killing processes and any opened handles you can use PROCESS EXPLORER.

For deleting the data which is in use wether in NORMAL MODE or SAFE MODE (files or folders or both) I would simply boot Linux Ubuntu CD and delete the data from there.

After that you can use EUSING FREE REGISTRY CLEANER to delete all invalid registry INCLUDING THE REGISTRY FROM DELETED SKYPE since it is not on your computer anymore and therefore all the registry from it is now invalid and EUSING FREE REGISTRY CLEANER will delete it.

After that install Skype again.

Simple. :D

Cheers!
