Skype sound question?

I have a dell laptop (XPS/M140) and have a Skypecast show on Skype. I presently use a $20 headset with boom mic. Nothing fancy. Looking around in my sound/vol. settings I do not have a stereo-mix option - that I read would solve my problem :(.

I want to play music on my computer (adjusting vol. while doing so) and speak over my mic....and have my Skype audience hear BOTH my voice and music.

Some folks just speak with an outside music source close by that their mic picks up. I want something better.

I am not up to speed on laptop sound cards that "plug" into the side. But I think this is what I need. Any suggestions would be great. A link to specific products a plus.

Thanks, FastMouse/Texas

For the mic to pick up the music, it all depends on how close you are to the speakers and how loud the music is.

If you are using vista, you can use the built in mixer to adjust sound levels.

re download it
or just reinstall it
its a basic problem

Redownload and reinstall what??? and how can it be a basic problem????
