Skyrim Help :(

Hullllooooo =D

Firstly, sorry, I'm new here. So I'm a nooooob :P

Anyway.. I only just got skyrim and played it for a bit.. and OMG it's soooo amazing!!!

BUT! I closed the game to do something and now when I open it, it says my save game is corrupt :'(

Is this like... a common thing or anything?

I could start again but I would rather not :P

UPDATE:

After an enormous amount of effort and help from Troncoso, here's where we are at =)

Any save that I create becomes corrupt after closing and reopening the game, this is ocurring on both of my computers but not my boyfriend's. Everything was tested with my Steam Account. Verifying the integrity of the game cache has also already been tried twice. The first time it returned no results, the second time it downloaded a 15mb update but still didn't work. One virus was on my desktop but that didn't fix the issue. I have reinstalled the game using the disc and via steam. The only thing left that Troncoso thought of was to reinstall windows but he thought that didn't seem too logical as it's occurring on two computers.

I'm so so sorry that this problem is dragging on but if anyone can help at all I would adore you to bits!!! ^.^

As you progress through the game, periodically, the game auto saves. Have you tried loading one of those? It sounds like you may need to re-install the game.

Yeah, I have tried to load the past saves, there are only two to choose from, unfortunately. Both say "save file corrupt" (perhaps not that exact wording but you get my drift :P)

Anyway, I also reinstalled the game and it obviously keeps my saves but still I had the same problem.

ALSO as a test I made a new save then closed the game, reopened and it did the same thing =(

So it's a game or computer problem not the save file itself

Both :3

The original was steam, I then wiped it all clean after it didn't work and reinstalled it with my boyfriends disc. Both to no avail =(

I also made a backup of the steam one before I wiped it, but that didn't remedy anything either :(
 
re install from steam (once you've bought it you can un install and re install to your hearts content) once you do that, right click the game in your library and go to properties. From there choose verify game integrity....something like that. Haha. That usually does it for me.

I have made 5 save games now, all of them work until I restart the game, then they are corrupt.

On two different computers.

One is my laptop, An Asus G73JH

I would list the specs but I may as well just say it's more than capable of running Skyrim :P

The other computer is my desktop
Intel i7 920
6gb Corsair Dominator 2000mhz
XFX 5970 Black RadeonHD
480gb OCZ SSD and 3x 2tb data drives
EVGA Classified x58 board

Pretty sure that's all you need :P

The problem is occurring on both but any fixes I'm trying are just on the Asus.
 
Yeah it appears to. He's out at the moment but I'll start it up and try with my steam login.. Good Idea! =D
 
Sorry, I didn't see both your posts there.

Firstly, yeah patch 1.1 is installed on all 3 computers (my laptop, my desktop, boyfriend's desktop)

Secondly, OMG this is so confusing :(:(:( It works on his for some reason :(
 
I've been hoping someone would jump in by now with a solution. My first thought would be to re-install windows, but it's unlikely that'd be necessary for 2 machines.

The only I can think of is to check for viruses. If they are both your computer, that means you probably tend to do the same activities on both so if you got a virus on one, you could have possibly have gotten it on the other. Haha....my logic. Anyway, run your virus scan and see if it shows anything.

Well, both computers are scanning at the moment. So now to play the waiting game :3
 
Okay, the desktop just finished.

1 Threat found and removed.

I'll wait till the laptop is finished too though before I try it.

Okay, update....

Sad face!!!!!! The laptop found nothing...

I tried it again on the desktop just for interest's sake... Nothing :(:(

It was a good idea though!!
 
I'm not sure what else to try. You may have to report the issue to Steam or Bethesda. Hopefully someone else will have an idea. I'm so sorry.
