Hi, just wondered if anyone has played Skyrim on the pc? just found it for £13 new, so I couldn't resist it, just waiting for it to be delivered, but as you can see from my signature, my graphics card is far from great, how do you think it will run with my current set up?

Yeah you should be okay, but don't expect great settings on it. Game is a lot of fun. I also know you can get some mods that boost your performance.

Ah thanks, still waiting for delivery, about the most demanding games I play are The Sims 3, Civ 4, GTA SA, Microsoft flight sim deluxe, all of which I get away with full graphics, but they're not really graphically amazing though, do you think about medium settings would be okay?

Probably low-medium.

What resolution are you intending to play the game on?

Regardless, I reckon you could only run it at medium at best with your graphics card.

I have a Radeon 6450 (waiting for my 7850 to come in) and I can play it pretty well around low to medium settings, but the FPS still isn't too great. But you'll be fine, regardless.

Well I have it set to the recommended 1360 x 768, it's on a Samsung 32 inch hd t.v (I know, monitors are better but I do like having it as a media center with my surround and tv) not really sure, what would you suggest for resolution? I am gutted about my graphics card, I got rid of my 360 as I prefer pc's, and most of the games I play are better on the pc anyway, but I am coming to realise getting a graphics card to match the 360 is going to cost a bit of money, while on the subject, which graphics card do you think would match the 360?

Ha ha, just started the game, it checked my video hardware and changed it to high quality, I'm assuming I will be changing that, but for now, I will humour it and see what happens

To match the video card of a 360 wouldn't cost much. May be like an old 4850 or so but it doesn't directly scale like that. Depending on your PSU you might be able to find like a 5770 for cheap and that would boost gaming a lot. Any 100 dollar ish card would play games really well if you're not concerned with max settings and all the eye candy.

I am concerned with max settings to a certain extent, but I know I can't afford the setup I would need, I would rather have a game with a good story, good game play, and over all fun, after all, that's what games are all about. But that doesn't mean I can't appreciate good graphics, particularly racing games I would like to be blown away by the visuals, shoot em ups, I don't play that much, but that would be another one, but then I would be perfectly happy playing breath of fire, or sim city on the snes, but back to Skyrim, the game in question, I am playing it now, thinking, good game, wonder what it would be like with a better graphics card, am I wasting the game playing with these settings, when it could look be better? I will have a look at some prices on the 5770 you have suggested, but to be honest, I have wanted to change to a gtx for a long time, are they better taking value and quality into account?

The game looks amazing maxed. My Radeon HD7870 does this quite well, I get consistant, smooth framerates, inside or outdoors.

Then again, my old Geforce 8800GTS 512MB did a pretty good job too.

Just looked it up, found it reduced to £179, probably about my budget when I come to upgrade really, wonder which GTX I would get for a similar price?

Just been reading the back of the case for Skyrim, it says enhanced for multi-core, does this mean there would be any advantage to having a six core processor?
