Hello All

I recently refurbished my old PC and i find my hard drive only has about 9 MB left and i was thinking of going to my PC grave yard in the loft and taking a hard drive out of one of them and putting it in this one making it a slave.
Im not sure whats going to happen when i plug the slave in it will have a different windows and i want to format it can anyone tell me what i can expect when i turn it on and how to format and are there any drawbacks having 2 hard drives or would i be better buying larger hard drive?

Many Thanks

If it has a different version of Windows that won't matter since you will still boot from your current drive. Once you get the drive connected (is it SATA or IDE since the mechanics of connecting the 2 are different), you can format it and start using it.

No real drawback to having 2 drives other then you need to make the effort to save things to the 2nd drive as the OS won't "automatically" start saving things to it. Maybe you laughed at that, but I have encountered people who thought the OS would detect the new drive and start saving everything to it without any user intervention.

I think plug a new hard disk with slave mode will not affect to your PC if power supply not down. So ensure that power supply of your PC support, check it's ampere ( out current )
