Slaving a hardrive

Is there an easier way to transfer large files in bulk without going through the hassle of slaving?

Get an external USB drive.

Or at least an enclosure.

Assuming your referring to IDE drives, you could always remove everything from the 2nd channel (IE typically your optical drives) and run a single hard drive there. Basically have the drives as primary master and secondary master.
