Sleep/Hybernation Problem

So I have been trying to figure this out. Well I got my first ever computer building running and so far everything is working good. One problem, when I go to leave and come back and my computer has gone to sleep. Well i hit the mouse and i hear it cut on and the lights come on...the blue leds. But thats it.Nothing comes on the monitor at all. I have to manually cut off the power switch on the power supply. Then hit the power to get it on. Ive tried mashing keys, using the power on the front to bring it back and get nothing. I'm using windows 7 if this matters.

Any help would be awesome. Other than that I have been reading forums to figure this out. Thanks
 
Do you hear anything when you push a button or try to get it to wake up? Windows 7 can be a tricky thing because it has a sleep default in the power settings (I know because the gf wanted me to keep it that way). If you don't hear anything, what happens when you press the power button once? If it comes back up, it's the sleep settings. If you hear it come back on, but see nothing on the monitor, turn the monitor off and on and see what that does. It could be an issue with the video card/onboard and sleeping. Post back when you can.
 
This sounds like a setting is the culprit.
Did you check your bios for power settings,Is it possible that bios power settings are clashing with windows power settings?
Go into power options in control panel and make sure everything checks out.
there is a lot of options in the advanced power settings in Win 7.
if u still have a problem then look to your gpu

Ok im new to this. Is their a way you can explain a bit further into detail... Sorry for being behind
 
first of all try getting the latest driver for your graphic card.
i had a dodgy driver on a laptop before and id just get a black screen after it woke up.so try this 1st.
Then go to control panel in windows.go into power options and click advanced power settings.
go through the different options and see if anything is set wrong.
if you still have problems -
check your bios.(this is the software embedded on a chip on your motherboard)
you access bios by hitting a key during the splash screen when you first turn on your computer.which key varies by manufacturer.sometimes its "delete" or "f2".
There may be power options in your bios or there may not although windows power options usually override the bios ones.
