SLI 2 8800GTS (G92) cards

Tragic Moment

This summer I was thinking I might possibly buy another 8800GTS (G92) card and SLI them, unless there is a good deal going on for cards this summer. But that's besides the point right now.

To the main point. What would I need for a power supply for 2 of these? One requires a minimum of a 400watt power supply and 26 amps through the +12volt rail. I know it'd probably be about double, but I want some accurate numbers.

I'd say first of all don't bother. I bought another 8800gts and have had nothing but problems since. If you have to get one second hand 'cos it's just not worth it otherwise.
But in answer to your question, I run mine off a 600w PSU. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/115010
You just need to make sure it has two of the power connectors that fit the cards (mine had an adapter to convert the 4 way inline sockets)

Thanks for the info. I recently bought a 1010w PSU because I blew my 480w. Apparently I've been running way more than I should have since late december, which is when I got my GTS.

I might actually get a GX2 this summer, unless there is a better card that isn't too horribly exspensive. Any idea of how fast of a CPU I'd need to not bottleneck it?

ha, that's funny because i'm building a new gaming rig and was thinking about doing the same thing, it's going to be pricey, but i think it would be cool to have an SLI setup. Anyone have any thoughts of that setup?
