SLI, but no SLI hook-up???

I picked up a vid card a while back, and now I want to get another one, so I can join them and get some serious gaming. The card I got was a Sparkle NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 512mb. It said it was SLI ready and built for SLI, BUT, there is no place to hook the SLI adapter! Usually the SLI cards I see have an SLI adapter on top. But mine don't! Anybody else get this before?

I think the 8600's are one of the few cards that don't need one. Just put 'em both in and enable SLI in the nVidia Control panel.

It should have one.

But I think that the bridge only gives it a performance boost compared to not having one.

Lower end cards dont need one if they have the connector or not. They dont use up anywhere near the bandwidth of the slots, so transferring the data does not cause a bottle neck through the slots instead of using the bridge.

You are saying that one 8800 is better than 2 8600's?? Why not a 9800? It's new and higher number and cheap. If I get a 8800, I am scared I still won't get good preformance.

2 8600's are weaksauce.

8800GT is basically a 9800GT. There are differences but too slim to actually notice the difference.

the 8800GT is fantastic,it will play just about anything but Crysis on full Highest, although it can play crysis on High settings, the 9800GT will be the same.

2 8600s in SLI dont even catch up with an 8800GT so i wouldnt even go there.

why not look into a ATI 4850? im not sure how much they are where you live but theyre not that badpriced here in the uk.

Screw HD4850, get the 9800GTX+ if you're getting a card that would be around $200.

I'm going to college, renting an apartment, buying groceries for me and my girlfriend. lol I was actually looking for one around $100. But I guess I'll have to go $200 for the quality I want?
