SLI Freezing with a high pitched noise through the speakers

Right here we go….

I have two XFX Geforce 6800GT 256mb PCI express graphics cards on an ASUS A8N-SLI mobo. But since I have installed the second card the computer freezes when I am on a game for about 5mins (BF2 for example) When it freezes I get this really high pitched noise through the speakers.

But after a restart the computer is fine, even when I go back on a game it does not freeze at all, I can play for hours and it runs fine! What’s going on with it?

I am on Win XP Pro, and I have got the latest Nvidia Driver / Nforce drivers

Any help would be nice, thanks

Have you plugged in all the wires, and changed the card for single mode to dual card mode?

Also, have you plugged in the molex connector on the mobo?

Yup all the wires are plugged in, 100% sure of that for the cards and mobo. I have also changed the chip of the board for dual cards. :(

Thanks for the reply :)

Have you used the SLI bridge? I dont think you need it, but try it on and off.

EDIT: And how are your temps?

I have the SLI bridge on, are you sure you can use SLI with out it because that don’t sound right :)

The core temp on the cards are around 70c, I am not sure about the temp inside the case, I have a lot of big fans in it and when I put my hand at the back it does not feel hot.

But remember after it crashes once, after a restart its fine for ages, so I can’t see that being a heat problem :(

Oh yeah, forgot about it working after a restart,

and yes, you dont need the SLI bridge anymore, (I think)

i have that same problem sortive.... sometimes my monitor will go on and off, and my games will hang for a second..... and once in a while my pc wil restart but b4 it does get a loud pitched screech/beep noise and itll either restart or go to a blue screen.... ive yet to find the problem

Just wondering, because before I had this problem I had a problem with blue screens of death with SLI.

It turned out that one of the Windows security updates messes SLI up, and if u do not have the latest Nvidia Drivers, well you get blue screens, if you have it runs fine.

Hope this helps you

But i still need help!! :(

I've never had this problem but I think you need to change the settings in the control panel.
