ok my cousin is a computer geek! i mean HUGE geek... he built a system with dual video cards in it and he didnt buy a SLI compatible PSU.... the system seems to be working fine what are the extra 4 pins really used for? are they required? will it hurt the computer or computer parts in the long or short term periods???

its prolly a +12v cord (4 in a sq), it plugs into a slot by the cpu....or its a 4pin molex, which is 4 in a line, or a small 4 pin thats teeny, for fdd's (its may be 3)

It wont "hurt" anything. If it works, it works. If it doesnt, nVidia driver will yell at you long before anything bad can happen (unless its a cheap PSU but thats not the issue here). See the updated PSU 101
