sli ready?

im looking around at psu's and noticed some are "sli" ready and some aren't. Is this just another marketing thing or are there actually a difference? Can a non "sli readY" psu handle sli if it has plenty of amps and it has pci-e connectors?

i believe it depends on the brand of the psu and how many other things are being powered by it.
