So i recently read that SLI only works with Nvidia chip sets. is this true?

if it is true, then how do their chips compare to Intel's, like their x38, or the new x48 chip set? are their ways to get around only using Nvidia chip sets?

... I'm quite sure that sli only works with Nvidia's chipset officially anyways. Unofficially .. you can downlod hacked drivers for some fx cards and they'll runn on x38 chipset or x48 chipset or other intel chipset ...

Most people consider them top-of-the-line. Although I have no experience with them, I'm sure their very good chipsets.

they are great, the nvidia 680i and more recently, the 780i, are excellent chipsets. and no, you cannot use other chipsets with SLI. SLI is buggy enough as it is, why would anyone want to try to use "hacked drivers" anyway? if you are curious, here is an interesting thread:
