slight network connection problem

i have DSL service from verizon with speed of 895kb and i constantly have this problem where my network just temporarily disconnects and reconnects a couple of seconds later, this is really irritating when i'm streaming videos or playing online games

i'm using a modem called Westell model 6100

i was wondeing if anyone has any pointers or tips on how to solve this problem

i'm connecting to the modem through an ethernet port, if that's what you meant, not wireless. it is a LAN connection

the only other programs, that i know of, that are using the internet are zonealarm firewall, avg anti-virus only during update time, super antispyware program, spybot SD *i'm not sure if it uses the internet or not* and windows update

that's about it

the disconnect happens whenever i'm streaming stuff or downloading things...it occurs about every 20-30mins or so and takes about 10 seconds to reconnect

Sorry enoknight hope you don't mine me posting on your thread too.

I use DSL and i have the same problem when using the wireless. It just disconnects and reconnects again every now and then when i am downloading.

Westell modem with D-Link wireless router.

it's okay, i don't mind if you post on my topic but i'm still waiting for a helpful reply.

i was looking up some verizon forums and they said that other electronic devices or a bad filter might be the reason but i check mine and they look good

i wonder if it's related to the distance from my house to the lan computer that supports all the DSL stuff (i'm not sure if what i'm saying is correct or not), the distance might cause something like this

My router is not next room to my, so distance is definitely not a problem.

I think it may have something to do with the wireless connection driver.

I had the Vista on my laptop for a wile and this problem went away.

I am havening the same problem all over again now after i reinstalled the xp.

Try see if you can get the latest driver for your wireless card.

I am gona try my and see if there is any more driver updates.

good luck

the thing is, i don't have wireless so that's probably not it

iono, it could just be service problem...like i have friends who have Fios that have the same problem...who knows ?
