so i looked around online and ive seen no one having
a slim drive (laptop dvd drive) in any matx, atx, etc. cases
do they not fit?
im only asking because i have some heat issues n im trying to optimize my
space...so i was thinking about putting a laptop disk drive in my computer, ofcourse other than the obvious face, which i would have to get creative on,
is there some sort of software compatability issue or what???

no, they work, you just need to buy a adapter and a 5.25 to slim drive converter too. But i would just recomend getting better fans

Yea, going through all that trouble just for a slim DVD-rom isn't going to be worth it both cooling and cost wise.

Just get some better fans. What kind of temps are you running?

coming from the pc probe 2 that came with my mobo
mobo 34C steady
cpu between 40-41C
gpu between 42-45C
i was thinking about putting 2 80mm intake fans around
my gpu and cutting a hole between the mounted fans for the gpu to suck air in directly
from the outside
then adding one more 80mm fan for exhaust any better ideas???
i thought about water cooling but the problem is A. i know nothing about it
B. space is VERY limited
C. im a poor college student so i cant afford to drop hundreds of dollars on
any more new components
but i plan on getting the 9950 be thats y i bought the motherboard so i need a really
really good heatsink the one i have on my 4200 was built for the 9850

Dude, those temps are totally fine. Those are actually pretty cold.

EDIT: The HSF for the 9850 will work just fine with a 9950.

alot of ppl are saying that getting it would be a disastrous mistake! i just wanted to consult the forums before i actually got one...but i think i might still get an aftermarket heatsink just to be careful...any suggestions on a 9950 be?
