i was wondering if people can clarify things for me. can this computer play dvd's? hi def dvds? hdmi? burn dvds?

the monitor has a dvi input and a vgi input, its an hp 19" wide lcd flat panel.
it came with a dvi-d cable and a vgi cable

any help understanding what all im getting would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
Josh

It will play and burn DVD's, but it will not play Hi def Dvd's. You need a special player for that, the same way you would need a blue ray player for bluerays.

regular dvd's are high def enough for me anyway, haha. anythings a step up from a computer that burns cds at .8x:D

The machine will do hd and bluray with the hd drive addon $250

I bought this system
It is cool, except I cannot get HDMI to work
I got it fully loaded, Vista ultimate, 4 gig, nvidia 8500gt/dvi/hdmi, only thin g missing was the tv tuner

The dvi works when connected alone, but I want to use HDMI, since it is HDCP compliant and I have the hd dvd drive.

The hdmi works fine as it boots until the desktop loads, then it goes black on 2 different model tv sets, so it isn't the set. I've also tried 3 hdmi cables

Also, if I plug in hdmi, the dvi monitor goes blank.

HP is at a loss, so am I. We tried to trouble shoot for 90 minutes

I am not sure this nvidia card can do dual monitors, even though control panel shows dual and hp says it does

Monitor #2 is the hdmi....i can't set it up as a desktop display unless it is connected, and if I connect it, the dvi goes blank

I go into safe mode with hdmi connected, and it stays on, but won't let me set std resolutions, only default for safe mode 800x600 60hz

The nvidia control panel has no option as others are saying for 'Use HDTV output' or anything like that

Anyone know what I am missing? I am sure it is something stupid
