those protect the slots......and when i saw em i couldnt help but ask, from what?! lol if you have that much dust in your computer that its destroying your vacant slots then i wouldnt be worried about your slots lol

I think they are mostly for esthetic purposes. Since the slot-protectors are UV-reactive, they might look good in a lighted transparent case...

Pretty useless, if you have a lighted case however, these wouldnt be a bad buy at $5.
