Slow cable connection, need help!

I need help with my cable connection, it's really slow' im suppose to have 4Mb/s but heres the results from dsl reports test - 2005-07-10 23:05:55 EST: 1238 / 356
Your download speed : 1268373 bps, or 1238 kbps.
A 154.8 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 365347 bps, or 356 kbps.

im runing through a wireless router and no one else was using the connection at the time of the test, also it says i have a excellent wireless connection on the network thing, thanks guys

EDIT: OK i think i got it fix , heres the readings from another test site -
Last Result:
Download Speed: 4006 kbps (500.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 359 kbps (44.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

But the max speed I could get on DSL reports was 3331kbps down , and 356kbps up....
tell me if you know of anything I could do to make it faster;)

is your computer on the wireless network or is it connected directly to the router, beucase there can sometimes be delays on wireless networks.
 
Yea, some people may be stealing your bandwidth especially if the data is not encrypted before it is being sent out
Its quite easy to hijack a wireless connection, a computer just needs to automatically detect a internet connection, which can be done by anyone, this is especially common in wireless 'hotspots' where alot of buisnesses use wireless connectivity to connect computers to each other
Somebody may be using your internet connection without you knowing it, that is if your connecting to the internet thorugh a wireless connection
