Ok first of all im not sure where this post should go so by all means move it to where it should be if you can be bothered.
Ok secondly me main point. I have a folder that is 16gb on my desktop. I also have notcied that the boot up time of my computer (or loading desktop at anyrate has dramaticaly decreased ) would this be due to the huge folder that is on there. If I relocated the folder to someewhere in C or D drive and created a shortcut to it would that improve the time it took to basicaly get rid of the sand timer thingy.

Hmmm, it is tryue that the more icons you have on the desktop the longer iot takes to load but im not sure about if you had not very many icons but what is there is huge....

It may well decrease your times, and i would put my money on saying yes, it probably would, give it a try and see.

ohh and could it be all my shortcuts this is what me desktop looks like

and that is after it been organised I hhave a further 36 shortcuts in a folder.
But would it realy have a significant affect on my computer as its not old, got loads of memory and a nice processor.

nice design on your desktop ;) do you use all of those icons in the folder at all??? defragging could help. this will allow the computer to access the hd faster and cut down some time. and its worth a shot with that 16mb file moving somewhere else...let us know

Erm it was 16 gig btw, but yer I have moved it. Ohh and I forgot to try defrag, and I use most of them I suppose I could get rid of afew but hey my pattern would be messed up and I would need a new 1.
